So, yesterday I got the day off school. Hospital dentist trip, but on my way I went into paper plus. For you New Zealanders out there, if you live in Northland go to Paper plus Whangarei, they stock Marvel and can order in stuff, though it is more convienient it is still cheaper to order online on Amazon.com, its just that you get to see what you buy.
I spent about $90. Now i am walletrupt (I keep all of my money in my bank at my age) but I got two nice, shiny new Hardcover comics. ooooh how posh, they come all sealed up and nice, so no stupid little children have fidled with them.
So here are:
And
I was pissed I didn't have an extra $35 to spare because there was another comic there I wanted (well two of them but the other one was an extra $27 so now i'm back to saving for a $400 list to ship over from America, whenever I get close, I tend to spend it all on comics here. And when I say close I mean as in About $200). But oh well, now you've probably zoned out and are reading over the pages I've put up.
Anyway
Here is my look into Xmen: Schism. No idea how to pronounce.... acourdig to dictionary.com Shiz-im, or skiz-im.
division or disunion, especially into mutually opposed parties. so anyway:
Who's in it?
Wolverine and cyclops
The "Generation Hope" kids...the first two comics for them were there but if I remember right, Hope is a pain in the @$$
Quentin Quire
Frost, Magneto, Namor, and Collossus
A bunch of eight year olds who take over the hellfire club
And of course
Sentinels.
Basic storyline:
Wolverine and Cyclops are the main men of Utopia, which is now a country. A kid Kills his father and then takes over the hellfire club and brings in a bunch of other rich kids. Its almost scary how smart they are, they take over it well and truly and come up with a pretty good plan to wipe out mutants. Not fully, but to kill everyone on Utopia is more like it. Sentinels start back up and are going haywire killig not just mutants (some of them) and then Cyc and Logan do not see eye to eye and get in a epic fight between one another, leading Wolvie to leave with anyone who wants to come, plus a chained up Quentin Quire.
What I liked:
Wolverine has a SOFT side!
He finds out a fourteen year old girl, Idie (Generation Hope) had lost her doll when people had tried to burn her for being a witch. Ge gets one for her
Then sits down to have ICE CREAM with her.
Epic Wolverine Vs Cyclops
This fight scene was the whole reason I brought the comic in the first place. It was worth it, as the scene was good and not really worthlessly short. I also liked it how these two started out close then grew distant through their opinions.
Quentin beig his usual dicky, all pro-mutant self
In cae you cannot remember him
He was the main character of the New Xmen: Riot at Xaviers. Good comic, I will do that at some point to... but... didn't Quentin DIE at the end of it???? O_o
The eight year old villans being typical kids, just really, really smart and violent.
For example:
Little girl killing space alien scene. Wow, thats one crazy kid...reminds me of my evil little cuzzie. *shudder* Then again space dog here did have it coming when he threatened to kill them all if they didn't get the money they were asking for...
in return for another thingy I liked:
What latter shows up on Collossus, Namor, Magneto and Emma's faces...BRAIN SLUGS.
Oh yea.
What I didn't like:
Not much.Over all, a good read.
Fear itself:
Note to self, must get the deadpool and x-force fear itself volumes...
Who've we got?
Red skull, when the cover reffered to red skull as "she" I was like... WTF? Because I don't normally, as in basically never, read Avengers and I dislike spiderman so I had no Idea he had a badass daughter. She beomes possessed by one of the Serpents Hammers.
So does the Thing, Jugernaught, Hulk, and three other guys who i've never heard of before in my life.
And, well,
the Avengers
Including Thor
And Odin and the other Morse God people are in here too.
Now, Basic story line: Red skulls badass dumass bitch of a daughter goes to find the gods hammer her father called to earth and is powered by it. Look, I cannot ruin the whole suspence of it for you.
READ IT YOURSELF
Seriously, I NEVER read Avengers, but when I saw it, It just looked too good to miss! It was a good read!
Go, Go get them both!
I give Xmen Schism about 8/10, and 8.5/10 for Fear itself. AND THATS SAYING SOMETHING, because I <3 Xmen.
Well done Marvel, you have made a great lot of effort into the storylines and artwork in thes comics.
Great reads.
Good stuff, I like it.
